Brighton & Hove Community Land Trust
Brighton & Hove Community Land Trust (BHCLT) is set up to support community-led development and affordable housing in the city. It aims to: develop affordable housing and other community assets; support other community-led groups developing such assets; acquire or lease land protected for community benefit. BHCLT – in partnership with CHIBAH, MAIS and Brighton & Hove City Council – is currently overseeing the Community-led Housing Programme.
Community Works
Community Works is a membership organisation which brings together community groups, charities and voluntary organisations who elect people to represent the views of the sector on a wide range of strategic partnerships across Brighton and Hove.
The Confederation of Co-operative Housing
The CCH, The Confederation of Co-operative Housing, is the ‘UK organisation for housing co-operatives, tenant-controMlled housing organisations and regional federations of housing co-ops’. CHIBAH is affiliated to CCH and has a representative sitting on the CCH General Council representing the co-ops in the south-east region.
Mutual Aid in Sussex
Mutual Aid in Sussex (MAIS) is a network in Brighton and the surrounding area which started in May 2015 to facilitate mutual aid between co-operatives, other types of social enterprise, small ethical businesses, community groups, and other like-minded people, by providing a free platform where mutual aid and support can be more easily achieved through face-to-face meet-ups and online conversations. MAIS normally meet once a month and all are welcome.
